For several decades, hair loss was a reality that was hard to come to terms with. It used to be called an impenetrable problem with no obvious solutions or treatments. In recent times, certain effective methods of hair transplant have been developed, and chief among them are the FUT and FUE procedures.
Both methods are considered effective hair replacement techniques that solve the problem of baldness among the masses. However, before you plan for surgery and visit a hair transplantation clinic, there are several things you should be familiar with.
Key Information Related to Hair Transplant Process in India
- Optimum Age for Hair Replacement
In India, there is no optimal age for hair replacement surgery. However, an important factor that affects age is the possibility of future hair loss. Complete or partial baldness (so-called bald patches on the front hairline or in the parietal region) can occur at any point in time, primarily affecting men and women in their thirties.
In addition, some men start noticing a receding front hairline in their early twenties, and in extreme cases, in their teens. They simply try to avoid the problem until they are completely bald. This is a frightening situation for them and may lead to mental stress. They often start looking for unprincipled hair transplantation clinics with substandard records.
2. Donor Area for A Hair Transplant
The donor area is the region, wherein the hair growth is robust and stable. The surgeon harvests the hair follicles for hair replacement and is the key factor in determining the outcome of the surgery. Generally, surgeons use the back (occipital) region of the head since it contains dense hair that is resistant to DHT. It has thicker skin and fat, which promotes better blood circulation to the hair roots and can easily withstand baldness.
3. FUT or FUE – Hair Transplantation Procedure
Both Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) and Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) methods are similar in multiple ways; the only significant difference is how the follicular units are retrieved from the donor area.
During the FUT procedure, the surgeon cuts a strip of scalp from the back of the head and extracts individual follicular units from this strip of tissue using a microscopic dissection. In contrast to this, during the FUE hair transplantation procedure, the surgeon removes individual follicular units from the donor area by piercing very tiny holes in the thicker area of the scalp.
4. Factors Affecting the Cost of Hair Implants
There is no fixed cost for a hair transplant procedure. It varies individually from clinic to clinic and also depends on the following factors: –
- Required number of grafts.
- Number of sessions
- Method for collecting follicular units.
- Clinical reputation and quality.
